In a hope that's been seen many times in history, Microsoft is hoping its two big rivals will knock each other off. In a new minute-long spot, unveiled Monday , one that will soon air on U.S. national TV, a wedding reception is disrupted by Apple and Samsung fans.
As the wedding is about to reach its climax, one iPhone fan asks a Samsung fan to move his enormous phone. When the reply is shot back -- "You mean the enormously awesome Galaxy?" -- a woman asks Siri to "Search: one trick pony."
Insults are hurled. "iSheep. Copybots." A woman then says "Autocorrect this" and slugs an Apple fan. A huge brawl then ensues. Meawnwhile, two members of the wait staff are standing quietly alone discussing the merits of their alternative: Windows Phone and specifically Lumias.
As the ad concludes, one man is seen tearing apart his dress shirt to expose -- no, not an "S," but instead an Apple logo.
Recent numbers have shown that Windows Phone is gaining market share, but very slowly . Meanwhile, Android and iOS continue to dominate, with over 90 percent of U.S. sales market share, according to Kantar Worldpanel ComTech's latest survey.
