A man was killed after a cow fell through the roof and fell on him while he was sleeping with his wife in Caratinga, southeast Brazil, reports the CS Monitor on July 15, 2013.
Joao Maria de Souza was rushed to the hospital after internal bleeding and abdominal trauma. Reportedly he didn't get treatment for hours in the hospital. He died a day later.
The one-and-a-half-ton cow fell eight feet onto the 45-year-old de Souza. His wife, and the cow, both reportedly escaped unharmed.
His brother-in-law said to the media, "Being crushed by a cow is the last way you expect to leave this earth," .
""But in my view it wasn't the cow that killed our João, it was the unacceptable time he spent waiting to be examined."
The cow was reportedly grazing on the hill on top of de Souza's house when it slipped and fell on the roof of the house and then inside the room.
Previously two-three other cows also have fallen down grazing near de Souza's hill while grazing. But there were no casualties reported.
