The Christian Post reported on July 7, 2013, that Lionhead rabbits that are one of the popular bunnies in the England have lately been gathering much of the interest and appreciation in the U.S.


It was in a bunny beauty contest held in Shelbyville on last Thursday where the Lionhead rabbits were demonstrated amongst the five different breeds showcased in the fair.


With a furry head looking similar to a lion, this breed of rabbit is produced by crossing a miniature Swiss Fox and a Belgian dwarf. Hence, it originally belongs to Belgium.


The physical characteristics of the Lionhead rabbit comprises of a small and upright body type with short and furry ears measuring 2" - 3", a high head mount and a weight of 2 and a 1/2 pounds to 3 and 3/4 pounds.


The head of these rabbits is not completely round and while their body is just like that of a normal rabbit.


Quoting Lionhead.us, the Inquisitr mentioned, “At this time, ARBA sanctioned shows are only required to accept Lionhead entries in the 2 varieties which have passed presentation (Tortoise & REW), however most shows continue to allow all COD varieties due to the breed’s enormous popularity.”
