For two months, Apple will be offering $10 chargers to customers who turn in any USB charger. This is a response to an incident where a Chinese woman died because of a faulty off-brand (non-Apple) charger. Apple was in no way connected to that incident, and states that it is offering the discounted USB Power Adapters out of concern for customer safety.

From August 16th to October 18th, customers can turn in any USB charger and buy an Apple USB charger for $10 rather than the usual $19.

Customers can take advantage of this offer at any Apple Retailer or Apple Authorized Service Provider. They'll need to bring with them the charger they want to turn in as well as their Apple device so that the serial number can be recorded. The offer is limited to one discounter charger per device (iPad, iPod or iPhone only).

Apple's official announcement can be found here . Apple's $19 USB Power Adapters can be found here , but remember that you will need to take advantage of this takeback offer.
