The Seattle Times reported on August 23, 2013, that Arizona-born singer Linda Ronstadt is suffering from Parkinson's disease. She mentioned that she can not "sing a note".
The 11-time Grammy winner in her interview with the retirees' organisation AARP said that she noticed the symptoms of the disease eight months ago but she thought that her inability to sing is due to tick disease. Even when her hands started trembling, the 67-year-old singer Ronstadt thought it was because of a shoulder operation.
However, it was a shocking revelation by a neurologist that she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease is a progressive nervous disorder whose symptoms range from vibrations of resting muscles, slowness of movement, imperfect balance, rigidity, and a shuffling pace.
Reportedly, Ronstadt is walking with the help of sticks on uneven ground and a wheelchair while travelling.
Quoting Ronstadt, the Seattle Times mentioned that “I wouldn’t have suspected that in a million, billion years. No one can sing with Parkinson’s disease. No matter how hard you try.” She added "Parkinson's is very hard to diagnose, so when I finally went to a neurologist and he said, 'Oh, you have Parkinson's disease', I was completely shocked. I wouldn't have suspected that in a million, billion years”.
Her autobiography “Simple Dreams,” is scheduled to be released in the forthcoming month, but there is no mention of her inability to sing in the autobiography.
