Sony will release the Playstation 4 to the North American market on November 15, 2013. Surprisingly, Sony announced that the Playstation 4 console will not be released in Japan until February 2, 2014. This will be the first Playstation console to launch in the North American market first. Will the delayed release in Japan help the Playstation 4 provide additional units in the North American market and help Sony outsell the Xbox One during the holiday season? We will have to wait and see if this strategic move pays off for Sony.

The Playstation 4 has already has a head start since it comes out 7 days before the Xbox One release date of November 22, 2013. The PS4 and the Xbox One are both long awaited updates to their popular predecessors and they will definitely top many holiday wishlists.

The Japanese market still has something to look forward to this year as they will see the release of the PS Vita TV on November 14, 2013. Sony has not announced when or if PS Vita TV will be available in the North American market.
