A European satellite is said to be hurtling down towards the earth. But then no one knows where it is going to fall!

According to a report on The Guardian dated November 7, the satellite known as GOCE (pronounced Go-chay) is heading for the Earth, after it was pulled down.

GOCE was launched to map Earth’s gravitational field , and as on Wednesday, the satellite it was 113 miles away.

No one knows where it would crash land, because the satellite has its orbit over the poles and is rotating around the Earth every 88 minutes. Significantly, during its course, it “passes almost all places on Earth”.

Scientists who are closely watching the fall of GOCE are still not sure as to which specific spot it would land.

They will have to wait to tell the world anything about that till GOCE enters the Earths atmosphere.

As GOCE is being described as an engineless airplane that has been coming hurtling down, it is feared that around 20 yards of the Earth’s space somewhere would debris could bear the brunt of the fall.
