Tragedy struck at the Naval Air Station Pensacola when a two-seater Navy aircraft crashed in the midst of a local training exercise.


According to a Christian Science Monitor report on November 5, on board the ill fated Navy flight were a flight instructor and a Navy flight student.


The two have been rushed to a nearby hospital, but their condition isn’t known. The mishap occurred when the US Navy T-45C Goshawk aircraft collapsed at the approach end of a runway.


The report said that the training aircraft had been assigned to Training Squadron 86, and was undertaking training exercises.


The accident occurring at the Naval Air Station Pensacola has come as a shock to the students there.


Year after year, hundreds of Navy flight students earn their Naval flight wings at Pensacola. The routine is that students start their flight training accompanied by experienced pilots.


Not many details have been revealed regarding the incident. The identities of the pilots involved in the crash are also not yet known.
