Kosher Social Media ? Again ? Yes ! Oy Gevult !
For those of us (not disregarding the traditions of our ancestors) that tend to buck the system, an online Synagogue may be the answer for you. I wrote an article in 2011 entitled “ Kosher Social Media; High Holidays online ”, which detailed the first ever live online broadcast of High Holiday (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur aka Jewish New Year and day of Atonement) services.
This year, in due in part to the success of previous broadcasts, they will have the same live stream. This means, you can hear the warm sounds of the shofar as the Rabbi chants Tikya, Tikya Gadola and so on. You can hear the thought provoking sermons and the prayers for atonement, as you hope for inscription in the book of life for another year. You can do it all in the comforts of your own home or anywhere there is an internet connection.
In speaking to Jason W of College Station Texas (former board member of Hillel and Chabad at Texas A&M) whose own beliefs are following the Orthodox sect, he feels “That it is actually a great idea, as it gets Judaism out to the masses who otherwise my not be able to participate, or do not want to take the traditional route.”

Mobile devices can access the live services at http://ift.tt/1va1Kor or through the Livestream app for iPhones. All services are streamed from Congregation Beth Adom, a Cincinnati area synagogue.
