YouTube has informed users that soon they will be trying an experiment to change the YouTube experience. Subscribers will have the opportunity to pay for certain channels.
Citing "multiple people familiar with the plans," AdAge reported Jan. 29th that YouTube has already talked to a small selection of producers about developing channels that would require a fee. YouTube is also considering charging for content libraries and access to live events, a la pay-per-view, as well as self-help or financial advice shows. The first of these channels will start as early as second quarter of 2014.
The above video is Lamarr Wilson, a YouTuber who talks techie in a a hilarious and thoughtful way. He tells YouTube his opinion on the possibility of paying for channels-- "St-o-o-o-o-p it!"
Would you pay a nominal fee of $1-$5 a month for a YouTube channel? Do you subscribe to any YouTube channels now?
