A report by Apple Insider on Feb. 1, 2013 , stated that Apple has become the largest mobile selling company in U.S pushing behind its arch rival Samsung mobiles over the last quarter of the year 2012.
"Apple has become the number one mobile phone vendor by volume in the United States for the first time ever," said Strategy Analytics Executive Director Neil Mawston.
He also stated that Apple owes its success due to the unique features found in the iPhone and its App Store, which gives access to innumerable applications.
Also the marketing of iPhone 5 had been successfully carried out all over the U.S. The figures seen in ‘Strategy Analytics' Wireless Device Strategies service showed a close battle between Apple and Samsung shipments in the last three months of 2012.
Where Apple shipped 17.7 million units which was 34 percent of the market share, Samsung put up a close fight with 16.8 million shipments and accounting 32.2 percent of the market share.
Another company LG standing third shipped 4.7 million units accounting 9 percent of the market. iPhone sales have stood up to 47.8 million units worldwide, a profitable 29 percent increase from last year.
According to Apple's Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer, a number of government agencies, such as NASA, NOAA and the TSA, were issuing iPhones "by the thousands."
