ESPN reported on Feb. 4, 2013, that Ray Lewis has concluded his football career as a linebacker NFL player for the Baltimore Ravens with a Super Bowl trophy that his team won this Sunday after beating the San Francisco 49ers.
According to the 37-year-old Lewis, there could not have been a better ending to his 17 years of career in football than the way it did.
Lewis, who is a 13 time Pro Bowl star, started off his final night playing football with a motivational speech to his teammates.
Lewis and his team played like champions to grab hold of the Lombardi Trophy against the 49ers.
Lewis indeed put a nice bow on his 17th NFL season by earning his second Super Bowl ring after 12 years.
Lewis’ first glory at Super Bowl was at the age of 25, and he was voted MVP after his team beat the New York Giants to earn their first championship.
Lewis had already informed his high-ranking team about his retirement plans after this season. However, he shared the news with his team mates and the media on January 2, 2013.
