On Dreamstime.com , while there is a section for images that cost as little as 20cents each, there is also an entire section devoted to thousands of free images. This is great, because there's not confusion about what's free and what's not.
There's nothing to buy. All Dreamstime asks you to do is register for a free account, and you can start downloading the high-resolution stock photos you need for your projects. These are tiny, web-only images. Each one is print quality and can be as large as 8.5" by 11" or bigger.
In their "About Us" section, Dreamstime says the following about it's resources:
All stock images available are provided by Dreamstime community's photographers, shot on film or digital and approved by our editors. Structured on categories and subcategories, the database is renewed with thousands of fresh images and titles on a daily basis.
Not only can you find free images at Dreamstime, you can also become a contributor. List a few of your images in the free section and drive visitors to your other images that are in the paid section. Who knows? The pictures from your trip to Cancun might net you a little pocket change to offset the vacation expense.
