As the Internet Deals Examiner, I tend to check the Amazon Local page daily to scout out great deals. (I just contemplated their Omaha Steaks deal they've got going on, and wondered to myself how I would cook Italian sausages or brats…)
Anyway, by checking out the bottom of Amazon's Local deals page , that's how I found out about the following contest running through March 17, 2013, whereby they are giving six fans of their Facebook page a free Kindle Fire HD and a $500 Amazon.com Gift Card.
"How lucky can you get? Six randomly selected fans will get very lucky when they win a Kindle Fire HD and a $500 Amazon.com Gift Card in our sweepstakes. Become a fan by clicking on the Like button at the top of the page, and then enter the sweepstakes for your chance to win. Fans of the AmazonLocal Facebook page will get updates about great deals, new features, and special offers," writes the online retail giant.
Of course I clicked like and entered my name, email address and phone number, thinking about what I would buy with that $500 gift card.
Ironically, Amazon Local then asks, " What's the first thing you would buy with a $500 Amazon.com Gift Card?"
I thought about buying 500 copies of my own Kindle books -- actually, I could send a bunch of any 99 cents priced Kindle books of mine to send to book reviewers. Or fill up my supply of castor oil and other goodies that I love. Or perhaps upgrade to Adobe Photoshop CS6.
But then I saw Cheryl Jones' posting, stating, "I would use it to buy items lost during Sandy. Too many to mention."
I hope she is one of the winners.
