Evernote is looking to get far ahead of the competition internationally.

Today, the Wall Street Journal notes that Evernote has added Deutsche Telekom to its long list of worldwide partners. Others include NTT Docomo in Japan, Taiwan Mobile and France Telecom.

This partnership means that Deutsche Telekom customers will have access to Evernote’s premium service for a year and Evernote will potentially gain up to almost 60 million new customers once the trial period ends.

Evernote has also announced today that the Android app has been redesigned and updated to include new search features and photo options. Reviews so far are looking pretty good. In fact, CNET’s Casey Newton went so far as to say, “With this latest redesign, Evernote may have created its best mobile experience to date.”

Ingrid Lunden noticed a bit of phrasing that points out this partnership seems built to last. She notes, “... they refer to today’s Premium announcement as the ‘first part’ of the partnership.”

So what’s got Evernote so motivated? Well, their competitors are nipping at their heels. Just last week Google introduced their own note-taking app with Google Keep. While Evernote’s CEO may not exactly be running scared just yet, there are more players on the field other than the search giant. TechCrunch notes that German competitor Wunderlist recently hired Chad Fowler, previously with LivingSocial, as its new CTO and the company is actively growing their service. It's a pretty smart move on Evernote's part to be on top of product updates and trying to close in on the German consumer.
