Yesterday, March 7, 2013, I went to attend a press event conducted at Facebook HQ discussing about the update to their news feed. Many press people were invited to attend the conference.
Mark Zuckerberg threw light upon the history of the news feed. He talked about the new design of the news feed to show what people want to see.
Jenny Zhou talked about Rich Stories that are visually engaging. He told about the Richer pix in the news feed and the new Richer News Feed on Facebook.
Now the user can choose feeds for an individualized experience. Feeds will also be distinguished on the frequency of their usage.
The users will be able to select from various feeds such as All Friends, Music, concerts, what friends are doing in music, and Photos. Following feed lets the users view feeds in chronological order.
Mobile inspired consistent UI will make navigation on PC, tablet and mobile more convenient.
