You have total control when dragging and dropping files or folders in Windows Explorer. You can either copy or move files/folders or you can create a shortcut of a file/folder. To learn how to copy or move files between Windows Explorer windows see tip of the day 91 .
If the mouse pointer indicates a move and a copy is desired, hold the CTRL key down when dropping. If the pointer indicates a copy and a move is desired, hold the SHIFT key down when dropping. To create a shortcut, hold both CTRL and SHIFT when dropping.
Be careful. Don't copy or move a file that you're not familiar with or your computer could stop working. If you want to try these tips create a text file first that you can copy/move.
