March 11 was marked by a statement from Matt Cuts, the distinguished head of search spam at Google about the next update from Penguin. Matt specially remarked that rather than going for a one time big change, the Panda is being rebuilt slowly so there are less chances that a big transition from the older version of Panda could be noticed.

This was quite some news for SEO experts and Webmasters. The hot talk basically comprised of what exactly will be new in the Panda update from Google. The discussions have been chiefly fueled by Matt mentioning the merchant quality algorithm. However, he made no statements as to whether this is what the Penguin update is about. Even thought the update to Penguin is rumored to roll out quite soon, Matt mentioned that his team was working upon the upgrade and it might be introduced somewhere in 2013. More than anything else, this upgrade would be a change on the technical front, essentially about how Google works or functions.

However, the cyber sphere was fresh with speculations on the 15th of March, with several webmasters mentioning how they were observing subtle changes in their web rankings. Although there was no official announcement about the implementation of the update, it seemed quite logical for SEO masters to think that Google had started letting the update percolate from the afternoon of 14th March, continuing to 15th March.

If you are looking for information on how to recover from Google Panda, you must first begin by focusing on providing high quality content to users, providing statistical data, reports whenever possible. If you are looking for some guidance on how to recover from Penguin, you’d do well to concentrate on eliminating spam links from your web pages.

There have been only three visible and major updates to Panda. A lot of gradual updates to this algorithm from Google have followed meanwhile. Penguin was introduced in April last year and has been updated only twice since back then. This might be the 4th update all set to come after a period of 5 months. Assuming that the rumors of the update being already in place are true, this one’s likely to be entrenched as Penguin 4. The previous versions, as said above, have followed 2 gradual updates from their introduction in April in the months of May and October. The statement from Matt made it to the headlines on and around March 12, and thus the update was believed to roll out somewhere in the second quarter of this year.
