T-Mobile held a huge press conference this Tuesday to announce quite a few changes to the company that will greatly improve their business. At the top of that list is the news that Magenta will soon be selling the iPhone 5, 4S, and 4 for use on their network.

The iPhone 5 will go on sale on April 12th for a down payment of $99, with monthly payments of $20 spread out over 24 months. If you want the 4S, you can get it with a $70 down payment and monthly installments of $20, and the iPhone 4 will set you back a $15 down payment and $15 monthly payments. Preorders for all phones can be done online starting April 5th.

Some of you may be wondering what took T-Mobile all these years to finally get the iPhone. The reasons are a bit simple; AT&T had an exclusivity deal for many years with Apple. Even after that ended and Verizon Wireless and Sprint received the phone, the stars still weren't perfectly lined up. T-Mobile's GSM technology runs on a different spectrum than that of AT&T, so in layman's terms, the former company couldn't properly handle the signal strength that the iPhone needed to operate at its peak performance.

The defunct acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T changed all that. TMO received a rather large monetary incentive when the deal with south, as well as a promise from AT&T to help improve its network. T-Mobile's CEO, John Legere, mentioned on stage during his announcement that their version of the phone would, "support AWS HSPA+ in addition to LTE." [ Source ]
