The CNN reported on April 10, 2013, that a 4-year-old accidentally shot a 6-year-old in New Jersey Monday night.
The 6-year-old victim was airlifted to the Jersey Shore Medical Center, about 25 miles from his home in Toms River.
The kid who was shot in the head succumbed to the injury. Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said Brandon Holt was pronounced dead at 5:00 p.m. No further details were available. Watch video.
Prosecutor Joseph Coronato said to the media on Tuesday that the boy got the .22-caliber rifle from his home and it triggered accidentally.
A neighbor of the victim said the two families were not living there for long and she did not know them well.
Fox News quoted Debi Coto, who lives a few homes away, as saying, ""I'm sad for the children involved and their families, but I'm angry with whoever owns that gun and allowed a little child to get hold of it. A 4-year-old can't load a gun.
"I had just been telling my sister how nice it is to see kids playing together and enjoying themselves, and then this happens."
