Only a few good souls are there who think about the downtrodden and poor lot.

Hollywood actor Ben Affleck seems to be one of those as he has contracted up for the "Below the Line" project and declared to live on $1.50 a day for five days , reports the Christianpost on April 23, 2013. The project is aimed at raising awareness about global poverty.

Other celebrities who are a part of this project include Sophia Bush, Josh Groban, Debi Mazar, and Hunter Biden.

The sole objective of the Below the Line project is to increase the number of people who take action against extreme poverty. In this you need to accept the challenge to live on $1.50 a day for 5 days.

The news of Ben Affleck’s $1.50 challenge came just after a few months’ when his film “Argo” was honored with the Best Picture Award. The actor was found celebrating the victory by shaving off his beard.

Quoting Michael Trainer, U.S. Country Director of The Global Poverty Project, the Christianpost mentions, "Last year we had over 15,000 people participate, and raised over $3 million.

We're excited to leverage the support The Global Poverty Project has received from the campaign last year, and the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park."
