Those celebrity doxxers who earlier revealed the personal and financial details of a number of celebrities are back. After saying about two weeks ago that they had gotten their lulz and were quitting , the hackers returned with a new site on Tuesday .
Doxxing is the act of revealing the personal information of people on the Internet, generally including their name, address, phone number(s), social security number, passwords, and other financial information.
The new site appears to be based on the French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean. The older site was thought to be located in Russia. The new site appears to incorporated the data from the old site, as well.
The first celebrity victims hit on the new site include including Robert De Niro, Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre, newly minted Secret Service Director Julia Pierson, Dennis Rodman, and Michael Vick.
The total of those doxxed is now up to 43 people.
Among those doxxed on the first site were Beyonce, Vice President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian, and First Lady Michelle Obama.
Reportedly, the doxxers broke into America’s three major credit-reporting databases -- Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion -- in order to get their prior information, and most likely they did the same with this leak.
The site's hit counter says it has been visited over 761,000 times. The current list of celebrities listed is (in no particular order):
