It was reported on April 8, 2013, that NFL Hall of Fame Joe Montana’s 23-year-old son Nate is eligible for the NFL Draft this year. The Draft starts on April 25.

Nate played in Monday’s NFL Super Regional Combine at the Cowboys Stadium, and commentator Bucky Brooks was not impressed with the young star.

He wrote in a blog column, “It’s going to be hard for him to transition to the next level. His passes don’t have zip. He has difficulty making pro throws.”

“He’s a great kid, his measurables are fine, but in terms of playing at the next level, his performance here was not very good.”

The other commentators were slightly kind to the 6-foot-4 star and said he could get a camp invite. Nate weighs 215 pounds.

Reportedly, Montana has just recovered from a painful operation on his left ankle, his ligaments were torn during working out after the season.

But even during rehabilitation, Montana was coaching with his private quarterbacks coach George Whitfield.

The young star practiced with Whitfield six days a week this year

His coach Whitfield, who runs Whitfield Athletix, a quarterback training academy in San Diego said, “This will be one of those unique situations where the kid’s skill set and his ability have been there all along, but he’s just had a long, winding path through college.”
