The LA Times reported on April 12, 2013, that the latest episode of 'Glee' TV series had upset parents of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown town.
Titled 'Shooting Star', the episode showed a girl with down syndrome, bringing a firearm to the high school where it discharges.
Many school shootings occurred in recent years. But it has been just four months after the incident which was fresh in the minds of parents and students.
Andrew Paley, a parent appeared on CNN complaining that no one from the show or Fox network warned them of the content of the episode.
The people of Newtown received a warning email that revealed the episode's content via Newtown victims advocacy group - Newtown Action Alliance. The email suggested to either watch or not watch it on telecast night or watch with caution.
Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of the series tweeted that it was the most powerful emotional Glee ever.
However The Onion's AV Club reviewer thrashed the episode with an "F" rating calling it "exploitative trash."
Andrew Paley, whose two sons survived the Sandy Hook massacre, wrote a post on his facebook page which said, "Those of us with kids that survived the shooting do not need to watch this episode.
"It's too soon as our kids and our own wounds are still too new. I understand keeping it in the minds of the Nation but dammit, at least let the people of Newtown know before hand. I found out because an old friend who blogs about the show have me a heads up."
