When it comes to the Apple iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 release date announcements, don't expect to see either at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference this coming June. The latest rumors suggest that Apple will instead focus on their new mobile operating system rather than new versions of their popular tablets.
According to Trusted Reviews on May 29, 2013, Jim Dalrymple of The Loop has been pretty close with his Apple predictions in the past, and this time around is cautioning fans not to expect any focus on new tech items at WWDC. Dalrrymple wrote on his site, "Don't expect an iPhone or iPad at WWDC." Instead, it's expected that Apple will unveil new operating systems, as Apple's senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Phillip Schiller has suggested.
Schiller commented, "We can't wait to get new versions of iOS and OS X into [developers'] hands at WWDC."
The new version for the mobile devices will be iOS 7, while the upgraded operating system for various Apple laptops or desktop computers is unknown, in terms of its name, other than OS X 10.9. Jim Dalrymple has predicted that the new iOS7 won't be a drastic overhaul of the previous iOS, but rather "more of a modernization of the look and feel of the operating system. Kind of what Apple did with OSX over the years."
In addition to the operating system, Dalrymple believes there will be new versions of the Mac Mini, MacBook Pro and iMac all unveiled on June 10 during Apple's WWDC keynote talk. He also believes that these will all feature the new OS X 10.9 which will feature better integration with the iCloud and iOS devices.
The current rumor mill in terms of the new iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5 release dates is that the items should be out before September or October of this year, just in time for the holiday shopping season. It's also being speculated that at least one competitor, Amazon, will offer a newly-redesigned version of their Kindle Fire HD tablet as well.
