This morning, reports have surfaced that Samsung is about to enter the Android-based notebook race. It is believed that the device won’t be announced at Google’s upcoming I/O Developers Conference due to the delayed launch of Android 5.0, which is meant to help further bridge the gap between computers and smartphones.
Some may scuff at the idea of an Android-based notebook. However, according to Los Angeles industry analyst Paul Mueller, consumers will really be thrilled. "Android 5.0 is a powerful operating system. It's like Windows 8, but much easier to use," Mueller tells us. He believes that the operating system will lead to other companies abandoning Windows 8 and releasing competing Android notebooks.
Samsung's Android-based notebook should be available around August. This is around the same time the tech company will release an updated Windows 8 tablet. The hotly anticipated Galaxy Note 3 could come around the same time.
