According to Bloomberg , Apple may be close to a deal with Time Warner Cable, to get access to the cable service via Apple TV.
The report states that the two companies are slated to announce their partnership later this year, while former Hulu senior vice president Pete Disad has been hired by Apple, presumably to assist with negotiations between the company and TWC.
Facing stiff competition from the likes of Roku and to a greater extent, consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Apple's potential deal with TWC, would provide access to its first cable service for the $99 device.
Time Warner Cable currently has deals with Roku and with Microsoft for its Xbox 360. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, told Bloomberg that more than 13 million Apple TVs have been sold since it's release in 2007.
