On Wednesday, the Daily Caller's Michelle Fields wrote on her blog that while Facebook banned Fox News' Todd Starnes for a politically incorrect post, it has allowed the existence and growth of pages calling for the death of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer on trial for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. At least one page called for rioting in the name of the young black man shot by Zimmerman last year.

A search of Facebook found two pages named " George Zimmerman must die ." The only difference between the pages is the word "die," which is spelled "DIE" on one page .

The search also revealed a page called " Kill Zimmerman " and a closed group named " Kill george zimmerman bitch a*z ." As of this writing, the group had 13 members.

"Requests have been made by myself and others to take down the pages. Facebook has yet to do anything about it," she wrote.

But since Fields posted her blog, the "Riot for Trayvon" page was yanked.

On Monday, we contacted Facebook spokesman Fred Wolens inquiring about some of the other pages.

Wolens responded, saying Facebook would investigate them.

One page, named "Kill George Zimmerman," was ultimately pulled, although several users said they were told by Facebook the page did not violate the site's terms of use.

Facebook user Richard Schnittger said he reported "Kill Zimmerman" and was told the page did not violate Facebook's community standards regarding credible threats of violence. Schnittger posted the response he received at Dropbox .

Since the 2012 shooting, Zimmerman and his family have been the recipient of thousands of death threats from Martin supporters, and a number of Twitter users have called for his death.

Many Facebook users, like Schnittger, believe a double standard exists at Facebook.

Recently, for example, Facebook ruled that a page calling for infidels to be beheaded did not violate their standards .

Facebook ultimately pulled the "Behead Those Who Disrespect Our Prophet P.B.U.H" page and admitted it made a mistake by banning Starnes.

Nevertheless, a Facebook event asking users to stay away from the site on Independence Day has attracted over 2,200 users, and alternative sites like Tea Party Community , Online Friends and United Patriots continue to grow.
