When Florida's in the news, you know it's going to be good. On July 10, CNN reported that by trying to make Internet cafes illegal, the state of Florida has also outlawed computers and smartphones. Whoops!

The bill that was passed was aimed at cutting out gambling in internet cafés, but a lawsuit points out the the language is so broad that any device connected to the Internet would also be banned. The woman behind the lawsuit happens to be an owner of an Internet cafe.

CNN notes, "The crackdown was kicked off by a multi-year investigation of a number of Florida gambling cafes that were masquerading as part of a charitable organization."

So far, 1,000 Internet cafés have been closed as a result of the new law. However, the hasty manner in which this bill was passed has raised some flags, eyebrows and oppositions.

The lawsuit is claiming is law is unconstitutional. According to the Tampa Bay Times , the lawsuit argues that the [law] unlawfully prohibits, commerce, violates free speech and due process and is overly broad and unworkably vague.”
