What it is:
The Hero 336 is a basic, lightweight fountain pen for people who are used to fountain pens. (Click here for an article about buying a first fountain pen.) The Hero 336 is a good writer, costs around $4 and should last for years.
Characteristics
13.75 grams 5.5 inches with cap on; 5.7 inches posted; 4.8 with cap off bladder-style ink system hooded nib
Trivia
The Hero 336 looks much like the old Parker 51, which was marketed during World War II as "The World's Most Wanted Pen"--which it was, mostly due to wartime restrictions on the production of pens.
The Parker 51's profile slightly resembles the nose of the famous P-51 Mustang fighter/bomber from that era, another point played up in advertising. The Parker 51 is no longer produced, but the Hero 336 is a near-replica.
Helpful Hints:
Before filling it with ink, clean it out with water to get rid of dirt and chemicals. Fill it with water and empty it several times.
