According to the ABC News coverage on July 5, 2013, the 4th of July celebration in Simi Valley on Thursday night led to 28 minor injuries due to the explosion of fireworks and shot into the crowd.
Witnesses of the explosion stated that the explosion of the fireworks took all of a sudden with sideways shooting into the crowd and on the ground.
The crowd present for the celebration of 4th of July in the park for the show comprised almost 10,000 people as mentioned by a 30-year-old witness Jai Kohli of Pasadena. The crowd and was mostly hit by flying debris.
The Ventura County firefighters set for immediate recovery and aid of the injured people while the severely injured were shifted to the area hospitals by ambulance.
The injured taken to the hospital include four people with moderate wounds and 16 another with minor injuries. Most of the injuries are burnt cases with no news of the fatality so far. Watch video.
Quoting the 17-year-old Justice Allen, another witness of Simi Valley accident the LA Times mentioned, “"There was a big boom. Everybody started running down the street. People were screaming. Everybody was just terrified. People hid in bushes.”
