Chinese website Xianguo.com reported on July 30, 2013, that a couple in Hong Kong suffered injuries after a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone burst into flames and set their house on fire.


A man by name Du was playing games on his Samsung Galaxy S4 when suddenly it exploded into flames.


He panicked and threw his phone away after which it exploded and eventually the fire spread to the entire house.


According to reports, the man was using a genuine Samsung Galaxy S4 and even the charger and battery were genuine.


The man also said that the fire spread to his car as well which was parked outside the house.


After the incident Samsung has announced that it will look into the matter. They will conduct a chemical analysis of the charred remains should which reveal if the smartphone really came from a Samsung factory.


Recently, two Apple iPhones burst into flames in separate incidents that claimed one life and injured another person.


Chinese woman Ma Ailun was electrocuted when she answered a call while her iPhone was getting charged.


After investigations, it was revealed that the woman may have been using a 'fake' charger.


China had later issued a warning about 'fake' chargers that are rampant in use across the country.


Xiang Ligang, a telecommunications expert told Chinese television. "The quality of the capacitor and circuit protector may not be good, and this may lead to the capacitor breaking down and sending 220 volts of electricity directly into the cell phone battery."
