Living in a rural area is great for peace and quiet, but its hell on cell phone signals. Just outside the Cleveland metropolitan area we see plenty of horses, but only one (sometimes none) cellphone signal strength bar on my iPhone. It’s painful. Wilson Sleek 4G fixed that.

Wilson Electronics has come up with a cell phone signal booster that works both in my home and in my car. The Wilson Sleek 4G is a cradle that holds your cellphone on your car’s dash or on your desktop at home. Connected via wire to an antenna, the cradle pulls in remote cell phone signals much better than your phones internal antenna ever will. Results=three bars of bi-directional reception and broadcast strength versus one – awesome.

When you purchase the Sleek 4G (versions available for AT&T as well as Verizon) you get the cradle, the antenna and a 12v plug for your cigarette lighter. The cell phone has to be in the cradle, but that’s what you want for hands free operation anyhow. Pair it up with a good Bluetooth speaker (like the Freeway ) and you’ll enjoy conversation or streaming music without dropped calls in those low spots.

Driving across the Ohio and Pennsylvania Turnpikes, there were always certain areas where I knew I would lose my signal. No more.

I’ve also seen similar success with my Mi-Fi mobile access point. Insert it in the cradle and I’ve got cellular signal for five devices simultaneously. That covers everyone in my car.

For home or office, you can purchase the accessory kit. The Home/Office kit comes with a desktop stand, an internal window mount and a 110v adapter. The window mount allows you to use your external antenna inside your window and attaches quickly with a special suction cup bracket. No drilling wires to outside, nothing permanent. The Home/Office accessory kit also includes a nice 13” bag that holds all the components you’ll want to take when you travel to a distant location.

I’ve found this is ideal in motels with crummy reception. Stick the suction cup bracket to the window, magnetically attach the antenna to the bracket, stretch the wire to the cradle and insert your phone. Presto – service where there was none before.

Watching your cell strength indicator go from 1 to 3 is a great feeling. You’ll want to give it a try. Check out all the options for mobile, home or office at Wilson Electronics . You can find a reseller here.
