Reports have been coming in today that Apple is planning to announce not one, but two new iPhones on September 10. The first, is known as the iPhone 5C and would serve as Apple's first true entry into the "low-end" smartphone market by being available at a lower price than history shows. Speculation sets the price point at only $99, according to Reuters, and could come in a handful of different colors to compete with the anticipated Motorola Moto X . The other is the true successor to the iPhone 5, and will likely be called either the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6. Either way, it will launch with the refreshing iOS 7 preinstalled.
"Where iPhone 5 continues to be the most popular iPhone by far, we are really happy to provide an incredible high-quality product with iPhone 4 running iOS 6 to as many first-time smartphone buyers as we can," says Apple CEO Tim Cook.
If there is one rumor safe to expect for truth, it would be that the iPhone 6 will have increased battery life, a better camera, and a faster processor. Somewhat wilder speculation says that the phone will likely have a fingerprint scanner built into the home button. Apple did acquire security company AuthenTec last summer, after all, and a string of code found by a developer named Hamza Sood refers to a biometric interface development kit.
