The Internet was abuzz on Monday with reports coming in from various tech websites claiming that Apple’s next new iPhone will come in a luxurious new color—gold.

The expected unveiling for the new iPhone(s) is geared for September 10, and according to rumors, the colors will be black, white, and the spiffy gold color.

The new iPhone will have a white face, and golden tones on the back and edging.

So what’s the big deal? Gold, shmold, who cares?

This may not be a big deal in the good old U. S. of A., but those in Asia may be jumping at the chance to get their hands on one because gold symbolizes good luck and fortune.

A killer combo for the Asian market would be an iPhone that is red with gold accents or vice versa—both colors mean good luck and prosperity; one reason why Coca Cola outsells Pepsi year after year in China—Coke comes in a bright red can.

But those who are west of China may be interested as well as any modification of the iPhone seems to bring in Apple fans, no matter how small the changes are.

So is a gold iPhone a good idea? Ask that question in September, and everyone will know the answer.
