It was reported on July 1, 2013, that George Zimmerman, who was acquitted on murder charges of Trayvon Martin's death, was pulled over for speeding in northern Texas this weekend.

A cam video released by police shows Zimmerman being stopped for speeding. Since he was traveling with a gun and the Forney police officer asked him not to play with the firearm and then sent him off with a verbal warning.

The officer had seen his driver's license and recognized Zimmerman after a brief exchange. He said that the reason he was stopped was for speeding and added that as long as he doesn't have any warrants, he will be served a warning.

Zimmerman's defense team in a tweet said that they wouldn't make any comments on their client's whereabouts and protect his privacy for his safety. According to the police report, the entire episode took about four minutes.

On July 13, Zimmerman was found not guilty of murder by a Florida jury after fatally shooting Martin, 17, in Sanford, Florida. The case stirred a debate on both sides.

While his supporters argued that the 29-year-old had a right to protect himself, others argued that he profiled the black teenager and ignored a police dispatcher's advice by pursuing him.
