For those who are looking forward to the PlayStation’s next iteration, they won’t have to wait much longer as Sony announced today that the PS4 will be ready for sale and on store shelves in North America on November 15 for $399, and in Europe on November 29.

Games ready for launch

As it is with any game console, the games sell the machine, and the PS4 will have a good stock of them ready and will hit the ground running.

Jack Tretton, Sony Computer Entertainment America president and CEO, said to USA Today, after the announcement:

We are very excited excited about the fact that we have 180 games in development and that there will be over 30 of them available on shelves before the end of the holiday season. It is a very exciting time for us and for the gamer.

When the PS4 makes its debut on November 15, the following titles will be available:

• #DRIVECLUB (Sony)

• Assassins Creed IV Black Flag (Ubisoft)

• Battlefield 4 (Electronic Arts)

• Call of Duty: Ghosts (Activision)

• FIFA 14 (Electronic Arts)

• Just Dance 2014 (Ubisoft)

• Killzone: Shadow Fall (Sony)

• Knack (Sony)

• LEGO Marvel Superheroes (Warner Bros. Interactive)

• Madden 25 (Electronic Arts)

• NBA 2K14 (2K)

• NBA Live 14 (Electronic Arts)

• Need for Speed: Rivals (Electronic Arts)

• Skylanders Swap Force (Activision)

• Watch Dogs (Ubisoft)

The “new” games are primarily rehashes of old titles, as is generally the case with each new reveal of a game console, but most gamers will be looking forward to the release of new intellectual property; and this will set the tone for the success of the PS4—the new games.

New economy PS3 arrives

With the launch of the PS4 looming just over the horizon, Sony will most likely be discounting various versions of its present gen PS3 game console. But Sony is now offering a “dumbed down” model for $199 with 12GB of internal memory. For those who don’t want to download content, and only expect to just use their PS3s for game saves, this may be a good purchase.
