Google seems to be ramping up its social network, Google+. On Monday, Mashable announced that Google+ now has the ability to embed posts into blogs or news stories.

The embed option is only open to public posts, so you won't be able to share your friend's adorable puppy picture if they have a private profile. However, all brands and news outlets are now completely embed-able.

So far, embedded posts aren't showing up on Examiner.com.

They also rolled out a feature called Author Attribution. Essentially, if you went to all the trouble of signing up for Google Authorship, they just made the process way easier. Now if a user simply logs in to their WordPress or Typepad profile with their G+ information, their Google+ page will automatically be linked.

Mashable notes that this isn't going to immediately benefit your search results, but as Google+ puts more emphasis on identifiable and reliable content producers over anonymous sources, the results could become apparent. Right now this feature is only available in WordPress and TypePad.

With this particular update we may even see Google+ follow Facebook's example and find a way to use this system to create a commenting platform other sites can use.

Forbes also noted that the director of G+, Seth Sternberg says that the social network is picking up and can really aid websites”

"He said the Google+ sign-in boosts Android app downloads. Fitbit found a 60% acceptance rate of downloads. Users also said Google+ is the most popular sign-in option on the Web, he said. Not least, he said the Google+ sign-in is increasing new user registrations.”

Do you use Google+? Are you excited to build your content profile?
