One benefit of the constant release cycle of Android devices by their manufacturers is that consumers do not need to wait very long before a feature they want on one phone is available by another. Touch ID, the fingerprint scanner built in to the iPhone 5s was Apple's ace in the hole as the only thing truly innovative about the new device. The Wall Street Journal is now reporting that HTC will reveal similar technology in their next flagship phone called the One Max on October 15. According to invitations issued by HTC to various media outlets reading, "One finger opens up a big view. You are invited to immerse in the sound with us," there will be a press event in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on October 18–a possible date of availability.

The second half of the invitation hints at improved BoomSound stereo speakers on the new phone rumored to have 5.9-inch display. However, it's the possibility of a fingerprint scanner that has the potential buyers buzzing. There has already been speculation as to where on the phone such a sensor would be located. On the iPhone 5s, the scanner is imbedded into the home button at the bottom of the front-facing side. Photos leaked yesterday place the HTC One Max's scanner between the SIM card slot and phone's rear-facing camera.
