Fitbit is updating its wristband offering, with the announcement of the new Fitbit Force.
The Force is a sort of evolution of the Flex, in that it's a wrist-worn tracker, but now with a full OLED display that shows not only the time (great for using as a watch), but also your fitness stats.
The Fitbit Flex, by comparison, which is the other wristband in its lineup, only has blinking lights that tell you how close you are to your goal. Meanwhile, the Force is also set to display call information such as name and phone number, though that will come at a later time.
The Force also has its own charging port built in, which unlike the Flex, doesn't require you to take the unit off the wristband itself for charging. A new USB adapter also comes included and you can sync the Force with an Android or iOS device using Bluetooth 4.0. According to Fitbit, the Force will have 7-10 days of battery life and is also resistant to water and sweat.
Like the Flex, the Force will also monitor sleep, count steps, can wake you up with its silent alarm function and also adds an altimeter to count how many flights of stairs you've climbed.
The Force will retail for $129.95 and is available for ordering via Fitbit's website, before it releases in a few weeks.
