Can't say we're really sure what Google has planned for with this one but it looks like Google has just filled out a patent for an electronic neck tattoo, with a built-in microphone and the ability to detect lies. Sounds pretty freaky right? First—to make things clear—it's really more of a sticker than a tattoo. It will be applied with an adhesive.
According to The Atlantic on Nov. 12, when people are making phone calls in crowded locations with noisy backgrounds, the throat tattoo could help dampen any of the extra noise that makes talking in those crowded places so difficult. As described by the Atlantic, the device couples your voice with an auxiliary voice input from the throat. This could admittedly come in handy for those working security in crowded places or plainclothes officers, though talking to yourself isn't really going to help you blend in with most crowds.
Apparently, there's more. In certain situations, it is said to light up. And the tattoo can also detect lies based on the skin reaction of the user. The patent assumes that those who are nervous or telling lies will have a different skin response than those who are just talking about what they ate for lunch, or those telling the truth.
The device, which has obvious human uses, is proposed also to be used on animals.
Anyone think a fancy neck Bluetooth is just what they need? Or is the ability to detect lies a little too invasive for you?
