While many have tried to compare the voice driven Android phone assistant Google Now to Apple's Siri, they've fallen short of the mark. When Siri first came out, I loved demonstrating its somewhat uncanny ability to hold what felt like a conversation with me.
Looks like the mobile assistant battle is back on, as Google Now just became an avid conversationalist, too.
According to Technorati tech listing Android Authority, the app that drives Google Now on Android phones has begun receiving a rolling update, allowing the app to ask questions right back at you, in order to clarify what information its users are seeking, to whom you wish to send a text, etc. My Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition hasn't received the update yet, and I'm looking forward to it.
Here's a video of the process in action, courtesy Technorati listing Ars Technica. From what I can see, looks like Kit Kat users may be getting the update a bit earlier than the rest of us.
Android Authority shares a complete listing of Google Now voice commands in an infographic created by Trendblog. The list is pretty impressive, and includes typical voice-activated Google searches, reminders and notes, adding events to one's calendar, calling contacts, sending emails and texts, weather, directions and local awareness, conversions and calculations, playing songs and much, much more...
