The story of a man suing his ex-wife over their ugly children is creating a buzz online, but the controversial story seems to be a hoax .
Recent reports that Jian Feng won the lawsuit have been spread around the Internet, but it's all hearsay and it is likely to be yet another urban myth.
Many in the media ran with this story, reporting this week that Jian Feng won a $120,000 lawsuit in which a judge ordered Feng's ex-wife to pay.
While there are countless media stories about this supposed lawsuit, not one of them leads to court documents or the name of the judge who supposedly presided over the case.
Instead, there are links to not-so-credible sources about the case. The links lead to different gossip sites and blogs that essentially say the same thing: "A man sued his wife because the children were ugly and won."
As horrific as this story sounds, there is no evidence that it's true.
There is a picture of a family with what some are calling "ugly kids" that's circulating around Reddit, Twitter and Facebook, but Snopes states that the photo has nothing to do with the story.
A blogger who goes by the pen name "Dad All Day" wrote about the supposed lawsuit on Chicago Now , an online community created by local bloggers in the Chicago area.
He referenced the Irish Times as a source, but did not give a link to the originating article. In fact, it's impossible to find any reference to this "case" on the Irish Times's website.
It appears that fact checking was the least of anyone's worries when the story went viral on the web.
Instead, it tugged at the heartstrings of many who were shocked that a man would sue a woman over giving birth to ugly children.
