What can the iPhone 5S that the iPhone 5 can't? Here's the rundown. The new iPhone 5S can:
Blind you and your friends
Well, not exactly, but the flash on the iPhone 5S is significantly brighter than...probably anything you've seen. Seriously, don't look at it. If you do, you'll lose the center of your vision for minutes. Honestly, minutes. You'll see a clear dark image of the iPhone 5S's cursed double flash bulbs right in the middle of your field of vision whenever you look at something light, and a light version of same when you look at something dark. Aftervision. Bad.
Bottom line: Flash is ouch. Do not look. But check out the slideshow to see the new double flash bulb.
Take very slightly better pictures under low light conditions
Very, very slightly better. See the slideshow.
Display videos in slow motion
This is actually pretty cool. Except you can't send your cool slow-mo videos to people; they'll just play at regular speed. Helpful hint: there are several apps to slow-motion-ize videos on your old iPhone.
Unlock your phone with your fingerprint.
This actually works very well. If you're familiar other fingerprint readers--this is better. Really, pretty seamless and reliable. So if you want to save yourself the enormous effort of touching 4 numbers to unlock your phone, this could be the deal maker.
Helpful hints:
The back cover of the iPhone is ridiculously easy to scratch. If you place the iPhone on a flat surface that has a piece of invisible dust/dirt on it, then move the phone two inches with your finger as you try to get a nice picture for the review you are doing, you will scratch it. Guess how I know that. Get a protective cover right away. Don't handle anyone else's iPhone 5 if they don't have a protective cover on it. Even if you treat it with the greatest respect and care, you might still scratch the back cover. It is that delicate.
