On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 an armistice was reached during the First World War. The next year Armistice Day was celebrated and in 1938 became a federally acknowledged holiday. In the aftermath of WWII and the Korean War Armistice Day became Veterans Day.
Since that day we have been honoring the service men and women that have served our country. They give each of us the freedoms we are afforded by living in the United States.
Michael Stokes is a Los Angeles based photographer that has helped put more than one service man on the map. Alex Minsky is a former Marine who lost his right leg in Afghanistan after his truck ran over an explosive. Alex spent 58 days in a coma and months fighting to get his life back. Alex is now a model who works hard to not only keep in shape but to inspire others. Thank you, Alex for your dedication, your determination and your service to men and women all across the globe.
Christopher Van Etten is a USMC vet and a double amputee. He lost both legs in service and is now modeling and inspiring people everywhere. His Facebook page received over 20k likes in a 48 hour time period. Christopher believes you can overcome any obstacle.
In closing I would like to think all the service men and women; without you there would be no us.
Huge thanks to both of my grandfathers who were both in the military; one of which served as a guard in the Nuremberg trials. Thanks to them I had the opportunity to grow up around military bases.
