An Alameda County, CA, witness at Fremont reported watching and photographing an orange ball of light flying low at the treetop level that momentarily stopped above a nearby home before climbing in altitude and moving away, according to January 27, 2014, testimony from Case 53755 with the Mutual UFO Network ( MUFON ) witness reporting database.
The area was directly under local airport flight paths and near a freeway and power lines with clear weather conditions and no wind, according to the witness who was outside at 8:19 p.m. on January 17, 2014.
"Outside smoking a cigarette, I observed a low flying moving light just above the tree line or at streetlight level," the witness stated. "Appeared same color as streetlight (orangeish-yellow). Upon closer look it appeared to look like fire or a static ball/orb-shaped. Object veered to my left - its right slightly - as I quickly stepped down the driveway to the street level and approached it."
The object stopped over a home directly across the street. The witness started the camera function on his cell phone while talking loudly.
"As if it had some intelligence, it appeared to stop when I started to talk, almost like it heard or seen me. The object then started to move up and northward (at an ascending angle) as I aimed the camera at it. It appeared to be moving at the same speed as it was moving when I first sighted it almost in a leisure movement/pace. I managed to get two photos before it was gone."
The witness filed Image 1 and Image 2 with the MUFON report.
"To the eye the object was round as I stated or orb-shaped, and appeared to look like static or flames within the shape."
California MUFON is investigating. Fremont is a city in Alameda, CA, population 2114,089.
California is a current UFO ALERT 3 rating, with a high number of UFO sightings nationally. California had 68 reports in December 2013 - the highest reporting state in the nation.
