Many of the traditional time wasting games that are being consumed by the masses on mobile devices focus on mindless puzzle solving and shooting things. These are the games that not only adults are playing until their thumbs are blistered, but the younger smart phone enabled generation. We call them kids. Along the way, many other games have tried to enter the market, with a focus on creation. Many of them have been music based and many have failed. Enter

Zya, the new app from Music Mastermind.

Zya, thanks to a recent $11.36 million dollar capital infusion, hopes to challenge the market for music related games with a fun, interactive style of play that is enjoyable for the entire family. Zya creates a unique way to let users mash-up new, studio quality popular music with their own lyrics and vocals. Users can combine songs, sing duets with famous artists, create music and the most important bit — give kids something better to do than play brainless games.

"We’ve poured our hearts into making Zya not just a game," said Music Mastermind CEO Matt Serletic, but a new way for people to experience the joy of making music, and we can’t wait to share it with the world."

Music Mastermind has wasted no effort in making sure the experience with Zya is as flawless as possible. They have created a cloud-based music rendering and rights engine, so users can access popular music and re-publish their own mash-up versions without any worry of rights issues. With custom microphones and voice-to-instrument features (calling Peter Frampton), users will have a bevy of options to choose from when recording their own personal hit song.

While there have been many music games on the market over the years, there have been few that have seen success in a mobile format. Zya brings a wider lens to the music app business, by focusing on the creation rather than the mindless playing or copying that other music apps present. Rather than playing a mindless music matching game, or brainless karaoke, Zya challenges the user to use their own creativity to enhance their fun. Additionally, Zya encourages users to upload their outputs to their YouTube channel, to be shared with the world.
