With growing pressure on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to hold sessions outside of Washington to get perspective from the rest of the country on proposed net neutrality regulations, the agency will be looking for input at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
Commissioner Ajit Pai announced on Tuesday the FCC will will hold a public forum on net neutrality on October 21st at the Texas A&M Bush School of Government and Public Service.
In the FCC news release Commissioner Pai stated, “The FCC needs to go beyond the Beltway. We need to listen to members of the American public who would be impacted by the Commission’s proposed rules.”
Commissioner Mignon Clyburn stated at the Net Neutrality Congressional Forum on September 24 that the FCC had received about 3.7 million comments on its plans for new net neutrality regulations.
New proposals on net neutrality that could allow large cable companies to create Internet “fast lanes” by charging websites like YouTube or Netflix for quicker service has caused an increased surge in interest on the topic.
