While Amazon Fire TV has boatloads of apps available, one of the most popular apps, HBO GO, has been sorely missing. Amazon had revealed a few months ago that they expected HBO GO to be available on their platform sometime towards the end of the year.

Fortunately, that day is today, as Amazon announced that HBO GO is now available on Amazon Fire TV, while the Fire TV Stick will get it sometime in Spring 2015.

“Since launch we’ve increased the number of services available on Amazon Fire TV by more than 4x,” said Peter Larsen, Vice President Amazon Devices. “We’re thrilled to add HBO GO, the most requested service, to Fire TV in time for the holidays. HBO has produced some of the most groundbreaking and award-winning TV shows and movies, and we are excited to bring this amazing content to our customers, all of which is accessible via voice search on your Fire TV remote.”

Amazon has also lowered the price of its Fire TV to $79 through December 28, to celebrate the launch of the app.
