With every new phone that hits the market, manufacturers race to put out screen protectors, cases and any other must-have accessory in a very competitive market.
And with more and more folks finding themselves with broken phones, the rugged-style case is becoming even more popular. Sure, there are Otterbox cases, which are no doubt, among the best known cover brands, but there are others out there that do just a good of a job, at a lower price.
One of those companies is Amzer, which makes protective cases for a variety of smartphones and tablets, including the iPhone 6 Plus. I recently received a case for review purposes that came in a blue and white combination, though Amzer allows customers to customize their color scheme via their website. The Amzer Crusta Case, as it’s called, is a multi-layered case that consists of a tempered glass screen protector, a shell case with a tempered glass rear, a textured finish ring and a belt clip holster which can be rotated 360 degrees.
Once you cased installed on the phone, it will sit nice and snug, and after dropping it a few times on a variety of surfaces, from concrete, to tile, and hardwood flooring, the case took the drops quite well. It even fit well in my pocket, though for those who do like using a belt clip, it works fine.
The textured finished ring is made of thermoplastic rubber, and I found it to be very easy to hold, as it wasn’t easy to slip out of my hands, and pressing the power and volume buttons weren’t particularly difficult, as is the case with other cases I’ve tested (where you have to press on the buttons rather hard to work).
For those looking for a nice, tough case that can withstand a bit of punishment, I don’t see any reason why not to give the Amzer Crusta a look, as it’s cheaper than the Otterbox Defender, and it looks more stylish.
